We first met Karen through a contest she had called "The Most Beautiful Horses of Texas". She was choosing 26 horses from the hugely populated horse state of Texas to paint. We entered two of our VERY RARE Gold Champagne mares and they were among the ones chosen to have their portraits painted for Karen's new series titled "The Most Beautiful Horses Of Texas Series". Her goal is to paint and photograph horses from all 50 states and Texas was the first state in the series. Karen's beautiful paintings have a surreal quality created by her use of translucent layers of pure colors.
After all the paintings were complete Karen had a showing at Sheplers Western Store in Austin, Texas where two more contests were held ... everyone voted for their favorite painting in person and on her website. EF Champagne Anyone and
EF Honey Dijon won both contests. Their painting is also featured in her new book "Beautiful Moments in the Lives of Horses" which features many of Karen's favorite paintings and photographs.
